As a technician at Systematic, you will design and implement a tailor-made Integrated Pest Management program for each of your customers. Specifically, your daily tasks include pest identification and the documentation of conditions conducive to pest harborage. Furthermore, you will be responsible for light handyman work, such as pest proofing and sealing holes to prevent re-entry. Additionally, you must handle the application of pesticides and traps while communicating progress clearly with the customer. Because our primary focus is structural pest control in New York City, you will mainly focus on rats, mice, roaches, and flies.

To join our team, you must have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, and the physical ability to navigate diverse NYC environments (including climbing ladders and accessing crawl spaces). Most importantly, we look for individuals with a strong work ethic and a commitment to protecting the public health of our New York communities.
While having an active NYS DEC Category 7A or 7F license is a major plus, it is not always a requirement for entry-level roles. We provide industry-leading, company-paid training for the right candidates to help you obtain your technician or applicator certification. We invest in your professional growth from day one.
Beyond technical knowledge, we prioritize communication and problem-solving. As a technician, you are a consultant for our clients. You need to be able to explain complex pest issues clearly, show empathy to stressed property owners, and have the “detective mindset” required to find the root cause of an infestation.
Yes. Because our technicians enter private residences and high-security commercial buildings across NYC, all successful applicants must pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening. This ensures the safety and trust of our clients and our team.
Yes! Given the density of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, we often have Walking Route Technician positions. These roles are perfect for those who know the city’s transit system well and prefer an active, outdoor work environment without the stress of NYC traffic and parking.
We believe in promoting from within. Many of our team members start as Apprentices or Technicians and advance into roles such as Service Manager, Route Supervisor, or Commercial Sales Representative. With the right dedication, you can even pursue specialized roles in entomology or large-scale bird exclusion.
Absolutely. The pest control industry is constantly evolving with new technologies and regulations (like NYC Local Law 55). We provide regular Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and hands-on workshops to ensure our team stays at the forefront of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.
We take care of our own. Our competitive compensation package typically includes health insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching, paid time off (PTO), and performance-based bonuses. For driving routes, we also provide a company vehicle and fuel card.
Yes. Pest control is classified as an essential service. Regardless of the economic climate, New York City buildings will always require protection from rodents, roaches, and bed bugs. Choosing a career with Systematic means choosing long-term job security in a vital industry.
No two days are the same! You might start your morning performing a bed bug inspection in a luxury Chelsea high-rise and end your day helping a historic Brooklyn restaurant pass its DOHMH inspection. It is a dynamic, active job that allows you to see the city from a perspective very few people ever experience.
